Let not my wrongful enemies proudly rejoice o'er me; Nor who me hate without a cause, let them wink with the eye.

Those men that do without a cause bear hatred unto me, Than are the hairs upon my head in number more they be: They that would me destroy, and are mine en'mies wrongfully, Are mighty: so what I took not, to render forc'd was I.

Consider thou my foes, because they many are; And it a cruel hatred is which they against me bear.

He me reliev'd from my strong foes, and such as did me hate; Because he saw that they for me too strong were, and too great.

O Lord, how are my foes increas'd? against me many rise.

I thereupon have unto thee my sin acknowledged, And likewise mine iniquity I have not covered: I will confess unto the Lord my trespasses, said I; And of my sin thou freely didst forgive th' iniquity.
