Give me not to mine en'mies' will; for witnesses that lie Against me risen are, and such as breathe out cruelty.
By this I know that certainly I favour'd am by thee; Because my hateful enemy triumphs not over me.
And thou hast not inclosed me within the en'my's hand; And by thee have my feet been made in a large room to stand.
False witnesses rose; to my charge things I not knew they laid.
Nor let them say within their hearts, Ah, we would have it thus; Nor suffer them to say, that he is swallow'd up by us.
Unto the wicked man, O Lord, his wishes do not grant; Nor further thou his ill device, lest they themselves should vaunt.
God will him keep, yea, save alive; on earth he bless'd shall live; And to his enemies' desire thou wilt him not up give.
For I said, Hear me, lest they should rejoice o'er me with pride; And o'er me magnify themselves, when as my foot doth slide.
Consider thou my foes, because they many are; And it a cruel hatred is which they against me bear.
