Kings of the earth do set themselves, and princes are combin'd, To plot against the Lord, and his Anointed, saying thus,

Thou lovest right, and hatest ill; for God, thy God, most high, Above thy fellows hath with th' oil of joy anointed thee.

Do not forget the voice of those that are thine enemies: Of those the tumult ever grows that do against thee rise.

For, lo, the kings that gather'd were together, by have gone.

Now therefore, kings, be wise; be taught, ye judges of the earth:

Ev'n David, I have found him out a servant unto me; And with my holy oil my King anointed him to be.

That th' enemy reproached hath, O keep it in record; And that the foolish people have blasphem'd thy name, O Lord.

The glorious and mighty Lord, that sits at thy right hand, Shall, in his day of wrath, strike through kings that do him withstand.

But when they did behold the same, they, wond'ring, would not stay; But, being troubled at the sight, they thence did haste away.
