Hold up my goings, Lord, me guide in those thy paths divine, So that my footsteps may not slide out of those ways of thine.
Back from thy way our heart not turn'd; our steps no straying made;
O let my footsteps in thy word aright still order'd be: Let no iniquity obtain dominion over me.
The Lord shall keep thy soul; he shall preserve thee from all ill.
Thy foot he'll not let slide, nor will he slumber that thee keeps.
For I said, Hear me, lest they should rejoice o'er me with pride; And o'er me magnify themselves, when as my foot doth slide.
And in my way my steps thou hast enlarged under me, That I go safely, and my feet are kept from sliding free.
When I had uttered this word, (my foot doth slip away,) Thy mercy held me up, O Lord, thy goodness did me stay.
Mine en'mies I pursued have, and did them overtake; Nor did I turn again till I an end of them did make.
