The stranger's shield, the widow's stay, the orphan's help, is he: But yet by him the wicked's way turn'd upside down shall be.
Because the Lord a father is unto the fatherless; God is the widow's judge, within his place of holiness.
The Lord lifts up the meek; and casts the wicked to the ground.
The Lord preserves all who him love, that nought can them annoy: But he all those that wicked are will utterly destroy.
Pure to the pure, froward thou kyth'st unto the froward wight.
Thou hast it seen; for their mischief and spite thou wilt repay: The poor commits himself to thee; thou art the orphan's stay.
