Lord, from the ill and froward man give me deliverance, And do thou safe preserve me from the man of violence:
Lord, keep me from the wicked's hands, from vi'lent men me save; Who utterly to overthrow my goings purpos'd have.
He saves me from mine enemies; yea, thou hast lifted me Above my foes; and from the man of vi'lence set me free.
Free me, my God, from wicked hands, hands cruel and unjust:
Let not an evil speaker be on earth established: Mischief shall hunt the vi'lent man, till he be ruined.
Arise, and disappoint my foe, and cast him down, O Lord: My soul save from the wicked man, the man which is thy sword.
Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against th' ungodly nation; From the unjust and crafty man, O be thou my salvation.
