I wait for God, my soul doth wait, my hope is in his word.
Our soul doth wait upon the Lord; he is our help and shield.
My soul for thy salvation faints; yet I thy word believe.
My soul, wait thou with patience upon thy God alone; On him dependeth all my hope and expectation.
My soul with expectation depends on God indeed; My strength and my salvation doth from him alone proceed.
I waited for the Lord my God, and patiently did bear; At length to me he did incline my voice and cry to hear.
Wait on the Lord, and be thou strong, and he shall strength afford Unto thine heart; yea, do thou wait, I say, upon the Lord.
So who thee fear shall joy to see me trusting in thy word.
My shield and hiding-place thou art: I on thy word rely.
Remember, Lord, thy gracious word thou to thy servant spake, Which, for a ground of my sure hope, thou causedst me to take.
So shall I have wherewith I may give him an answer just, Who spitefully reproacheth me; for in thy word I trust.
