The prayer of the destitute he surely will regard; Their prayer will he not despise, by him it shall be heard.
For he the needy shall preserve, when he to him doth call; The poor also, and him that hath no help of man at all.
For he despis'd not nor abhorr'd th' afflicted's misery; Nor from him hid his face, but heard when he to him did cry.
For they that needy are shall not forgotten be alway; The expectation of the poor shall not be lost for aye.
Let thou their eyes so darken'd be, that sight may them forsake; And let their loins be made by thee continually to shake.
God doth build up Jerusalem; and he it is alone That the dispers'd of Israel doth gather into one.
