For their mouth's sin, and for the words that from their lips do fly, Let them be taken in their pride; because they curse and lie.

Let not the foot of cruel pride come, and against me stand; And let me not removed be, Lord, by the wicked's hand.

Upon his own head his mischief shall be returned home; His vi'lent dealing also down on his own pate shall come.

For good unto thy servant, Lord, thy servant's surety be: From the oppression of the proud do thou deliver me.

To silence put the lying lips, that grievous things do say, And hard reports, in pride and scorn, on righteous men do lay.

The men that are puff 'd up with pride against me forg'd a lie; Yet thy commandements observe with my whole heart will I.

O that thy statutes to observe thou would'st my ways direct!

Because he mercy minded not, but persecuted still The poor and needy, that he might the broken-hearted kill.
