Then this Sheshbazzar came and laid the foundations of the house of God in Jerusalem, and from that time until now it has been under construction, and it is not yet finished.’

Draw near to me; hear this! From the beginning I have not spoken in secret; from the time it came to be I have been there. And now the Lord God has sent me and his spirit.

Consider from this day on, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month. Since the day that the foundation of the Lord’s temple was laid, consider:

And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.

looking to Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.
