The messengers returned to Jacob, saying, “We came to your brother Esau, and he is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him.”

Jacob said, “No, please; if I find favor with you, then accept my present from my hand, for truly to see your face is like seeing the face of God, since you have received me with such favor.

So Esau said, “Let me leave with you some of the people who are with me.” But he said, “Why should my lord be so kind to me?”

Esau said, “What do you mean by all this company that I met?” Jacob answered, “To find favor with my lord.”

And his soul was drawn to Dinah daughter of Jacob; he loved the young woman and spoke tenderly to her.

And she said, “Let your servant find favor in your sight.” Then the woman went her way and ate and drank with her husband, and her countenance was sad no longer.

She rose and bowed down, with her face to the ground, and said, “Your servant is a slave to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.”
