“My spirit is broken; my days are extinct; the grave is ready for me.

I cry to you, and you do not answer me; I stand, and you merely look at me.

For the arrows of the Almighty are in me; my spirit drinks their poison; the terrors of God are arrayed against me.

For you are the God in whom I take refuge; why have you cast me off? Why must I walk about mournfully because of the oppression of the enemy?

For we sink down to the dust; our bodies cling to the ground.

For all day long I have been plagued and am punished every morning.
