This house will become a heap of ruins; everyone passing by it will be astonished and will hiss, and they will say, ‘Why has the Lord done such a thing to this land and to this house?’
King David said to the whole assembly, “My son Solomon, whom alone God has chosen, is young and inexperienced, and the work is great, for the temple will not be for mortals but for the Lord God.
Grant to my son Solomon that with single mind he may keep your commandments, your decrees, and your statutes, performing all of them, and that he may build the temple for which I have made provision.”
The vestibule in front of the nave of the house was twenty cubits long, across the width of the house, and its height was one hundred twenty cubits. He overlaid it on the inside with pure gold.
