Rouse yourself! Why do you sleep, O Lord? Awake, do not cast us off forever!
Then the Lord awoke as from sleep, like a warrior shouting because of wine.
Rise up, O Lord, in your anger; lift yourself up against the fury of my enemies; awake, O my God; you have appointed a judgment.
O God, why do you cast us off forever? Why does your anger smoke against the sheep of your pasture?
Wake up! Rouse yourself for my defense, for my cause, my God and my Lord!
But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion, and they woke him up and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?”
Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the Lord! Awake, as in days of old, the generations of long ago! Was it not you who cut Rahab in pieces, who pierced the dragon?
O Lord, why do you cast me off? Why do you hide your face from me?
“Will the Lord spurn forever and never again be favorable?
Yet you have rejected us and shamed us and have not gone out with our armies.
“Because the poor are despoiled, because the needy groan, I will now rise up,” says the Lord; “I will place them in the safety for which they long.”
