More in number than the hairs of my head are those who hate me without cause; many are those who would destroy me, my enemies who accuse me falsely. What I did not steal, must I now restore?

It was to fulfill the word that is written in their law, ‘They hated me without a cause.’

Those who are my foes without cause are mighty, and many are those who hate me wrongfully.

and my enemy will say, “I have prevailed”; my foes will rejoice because I am shaken.

Whoever winks the eye causes trouble, but one who rebukes boldly makes peace.

For I pray, “Only do not let them rejoice over me, those who boast against me when my foot slips.”

Those who were my enemies without cause have hunted me like a bird;

Princes persecute me without cause, but my heart stands in awe of your words.

They surround me with words of hate and attack me without cause.

But at my stumbling they gathered in glee; they gathered together against me; ruffians whom I did not know tore at me without ceasing;

O my God, in you I trust; do not let me be put to shame; do not let my enemies exult over me.

Why does your heart carry you away, and why do your eyes flash,

For I am ready to fall, and my pain is ever with me.

Those who render me evil for good are my adversaries because I follow after good.

O God, you know my folly; the wrongs I have done are not hidden from you.
