So it was not you who sent me here but God; he has made me a father to Pharaoh and lord of all his house and ruler over all the land of Egypt.

When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, and when the wicked perish, there is jubilation.

Whoever belittles another lacks sense, but an intelligent person remains silent.

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.

When a land rebels it has many rulers; but with an intelligent person, honesty endures.

Scoffers set a city aflame, but the wise turn away wrath.

Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city. Yet no one remembered that poor man.

And the tongue is a fire. The tongue is placed among our members as a world of iniquity; it stains the whole body, sets on fire the cycle of life, and is itself set on fire by hell.
