When he was alone, those who were around him along with the twelve asked him about the parables.

he did not speak to them except in parables, but he explained everything in private to his disciples.

When he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about the parable.

Then he left the crowds and went into the house. And his disciples approached him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds of the field.”

Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools suffers harm.

And he told them many things in parables, saying: “Listen! A sower went out to sow.

And he said, “If you have ears to hear, then hear!”

And he said to them, “To you has been given the secret of the kingdom of God, but for those outside everything comes in parables,
