O mortal, propound a riddle and speak an allegory to the house of Israel.

After agreeing with the laborers for a denarius for the day, he sent them into his vineyard.

But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, “Why are you putting me to the test, you hypocrites?

Some, testing him, asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?”

And they came and said to him, “Teacher, we know that you are sincere and show deference to no one, for you do not regard people with partiality but teach the way of God in accordance with truth. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not?

And they brought one. Then he said to them, “Whose head is this and whose title?” They answered, “Caesar’s.”

But he perceived their craftiness and said to them,

He said to him the third time, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter felt hurt because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” And he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.

They said this to test him, so that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground.

Then Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to put the Spirit of the Lord to the test? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.”

We must not put Christ to the test, as some of them did, and were destroyed by serpents.

And before him no creature is hidden, but all are naked and laid bare to the eyes of the one to whom we must render an account.

and I will strike her children dead. And all the churches will know that I am the one who searches minds and hearts, and I will give to each of you as your works deserve.
