Although Daniel knew that the document had been signed, he continued to go to his house, which had windows in its upper room open toward Jerusalem, and to get down on his knees three times a day to pray to his God and praise him, just as he had done previously.

Once when Jesus was praying alone, with only the disciples near him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?”

Now about eight days after these sayings Jesus took with him Peter and John and James and went up on the mountain to pray.

And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.

Jesus went up the mountain and sat down there with his disciples.

Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with thanksgiving.

In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to the one who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.

“I regret that I made Saul king, for he has turned back from following me and has not carried out my commands.” Samuel was angry, and he cried out to the Lord all night.
