One Sabbath while Jesus was going through some grain fields, his disciples plucked some heads of grain, rubbed them in their hands, and ate them.

“If you go into your neighbor’s standing grain, you may pluck the ears with your hand, but you shall not put a sickle to your neighbor’s standing grain.

On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall not work at your occupations.

Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread; on the first day you shall remove leaven from your houses, for whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day shall be cut off from Israel.

“You shall count seven weeks; begin to count the seven weeks from the time the sickle is first put to the standing grain.

“And from the day after the Sabbath, from the day on which you bring the sheaf of the elevation offering, you shall count seven full weeks.

And no one after drinking old wine desires new wine but says, ‘The old is good.’ ”

On another Sabbath he entered the synagogue and taught, and there was a man there whose right hand was withered.
