Then they brought it to Jesus, and after throwing their cloaks on the colt, they set Jesus on it.
Then hurriedly they all took their cloaks and spread them for him on the bare steps, and they blew the trumpet and proclaimed, “Jehu is king.”
This took place to fulfill what had been spoken through the prophet:
they brought the donkey and the colt and put their cloaks on them, and he sat on them.
They said, “The Lord needs it.”
As he rode along, people kept spreading their cloaks on the road.
The next day the great crowd that had come to the festival heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem.
