On the third day Joseph said to them, “Do this and you will live, for I fear God:

The former governors who were before me laid heavy burdens on the people and took food and wine from them, besides forty shekels of silver. Even their servants lorded it over the people. But I did not do so because of the fear of God.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever.

“You shall not render an unjust judgment; you shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great: with justice you shall judge your neighbor.

“You shall rise before the aged and defer to the old, and you shall fear your God: I am the Lord.

You shall not cheat one another, but you shall fear your God, for I am the Lord your God.

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.

Let us therefore no longer pass judgment on one another, but resolve instead never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother or sister.

Give no offense to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God,

“ ‘Cursed be anyone who misleads a blind person on the road.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen!’

If you invoke as Father the one who judges impartially according to each person’s work, live in fear during the time of your exile.

Honor everyone. Love the family of believers. Fear God. Honor the emperor.

But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the people of Israel, so that they would eat food sacrificed to idols and engage in sexual immorality.
