“But now they make sport of me, those who are younger than I, whose fathers I would have disdained to set with the dogs of my flock.

My lyre is turned to mourning and my pipe to the voice of those who weep.

The roads to Zion mourn, for no one comes to the festivals; all her gates are desolate; her priests groan; her young girls grieve, and her lot is bitter.

The elders of daughter Zion sit on the ground in silence; they have thrown dust on their heads; they put on sackcloth; the young women of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.

I will silence the music of your songs; the sound of your lyres shall be heard no more.

I will punish her for the festival days of the Baals, to whom she offered incense and decked herself with her rings and jewelry and went after her lovers and forgot me, says the Lord.

“You shall appoint judges and officials throughout your tribes, in all your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, and they shall render just decisions for the people.

and the sound of harpists and entertainers and of flutists and trumpeters will be heard in you no more, and an artisan of any trade will be found in you no more, and the sound of the millstone will be heard in you no more,
