though I call and cry for help, he shuts out my prayer;
O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer; and by night but find no rest.
I cry to you, and you do not answer me; I stand, and you merely look at me.
Even when I cry out, ‘Violence!’ I am not answered; I call aloud, but there is no justice.
And about three o’clock Jesus cried with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
O Lord, how long shall I cry for help, and you will not listen? Or cry to you “Violence!” and you will not save?
you have wrapped yourself with a cloud so that no prayer can pass through.
O Lord God of hosts, how long will you be angry with your people’s prayers?
You have wrapped yourself with anger and pursued us, killing without pity;
For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
