He said, “Then put away the foreign gods that are among you, and incline your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”
The Lord our God be with us, as he was with our ancestors; may he not leave us or abandon us,
but incline our hearts to him, to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments, his statutes, and his ordinances that he commanded our ancestors.
Turn my heart to your decrees and not to selfish gain.
Do not turn my heart to any evil, to busy myself with wicked deeds in company with those who work iniquity; do not let me eat of their delicacies.
I am the Lord your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.
You shall not make gods of silver alongside me, nor shall you make for yourselves gods of gold.
making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding,
O Ephraim, what have I to do with idols? It is I who answer and look after you. I am like an evergreen cypress; your fruit comes from me.
“Now, therefore, revere the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness; put away the gods that your ancestors served beyond the River and in Egypt and serve the Lord.
