and their kindred the Levites were appointed for all the service of the tabernacle of the house of God.

To the Merarites according to their families were allotted twelve towns out of the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.

The towns of the several families of the Gershonites were in all thirteen, with their pasturelands.
