So Joshua said to the Israelites, “How long will you be slack about going in and taking possession of the land that the Lord, the God of your ancestors, has given you?

A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.

The appetite of the lazy craves and gets nothing, while the appetite of the diligent is richly supplied.

The way of the lazy is overgrown with thorns, but the path of the upright is a level highway.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do with your might, for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going.

On that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: “Do not fear, O Zion; do not let your hands grow weak.

And about five o’clock he went out and found others standing around, and he said to them, ‘Why are you standing here idle all day?’

Do not work for the food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For it is on him that God the Father has set his seal.”

Be strong and courageous, for you shall lead this people to possess the land that I swore to their ancestors to give them.

Now Joshua was old and advanced in years, and the Lord said to him, “You are old and advanced in years, and very much of the land still remains to be possessed.

There remained among the Israelites seven tribes whose inheritance had not yet been apportioned.

Provide three men from each tribe, and I will send them out that they may begin to go throughout the land, writing a description of it with a view to their inheritances. Then come back to me.

They said, “Come, let us go up against them, for we have seen the land, and it is very good. Will you do nothing? Do not be slow to go, but enter in and possess the land.
