Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for he does not observe the Sabbath.” Others said, “How can a man who is a sinner perform such signs?” And they were divided.

Again the Jews were divided because of these words.

So there was a division in the crowd because of him.

And there was considerable complaining about him among the crowds. While some were saying, “He is a good man,” others were saying, “No, he is deceiving the crowd.”

He came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with that person.”

When the Pharisees saw it, they said to him, “Look, your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.”

If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not have sin. But now they have seen and hated both me and my Father.

Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, but if you do not, then believe because of the works themselves.

So for the second time they called the man who had been blind, and they said to him, “Give glory to God! We know that this man is a sinner.”

The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”

But I have a testimony greater than John’s. The works that the Father has given me to complete, the very works that I am doing, testify on my behalf that the Father has sent me.

But the residents of the city were divided: some sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles.

a man was there with a withered hand, and they asked him, “Is it lawful to cure on the Sabbath?” so that they might accuse him.

But the leader of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had cured on the Sabbath, kept saying to the crowd, “There are six days on which work ought to be done; come on those days and be cured and not on the Sabbath day.”

Jesus did this, the first of his signs, in Cana of Galilee and revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.

So the Jews said to the man who had been cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your mat.”

If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath in order that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me because I healed a man’s whole body on the Sabbath?
