Whoever does not carry the cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

When Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus outside and sat on the judge’s bench at a place called The Stone Pavement, or in Hebrew Gabbatha.

Now in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate there is a pool, called in Hebrew Beth-zatha, which has five porticoes.

Then they dragged him out of the city and began to stone him, and the witnesses laid their coats at the feet of a young man named Saul.
