If he should take back his spirit to himself and gather to himself his breath,
In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of every human being.
What are humans, that you make so much of them, that you set your mind on them,
He is wise in heart and mighty in strength; who has resisted him and succeeded?
When you hide your face, they are dismayed; when you take away their breath, they die and return to their dust.
You turn us back to dust and say, “Turn back, you mortals.”
and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the breath returns to God who gave it.
They will be gathered together like prisoners in a pit; they will be shut up in a prison, and after many days they will be punished.
