Rise up, you women who are at ease, hear my voice; you complacent daughters, listen to my speech.

Then the Lord said to me: Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my heart would not turn toward this people. Send them out of my sight, and let them go!

Is Israel a slave? Is he a homeborn servant? Why then has he become plunder?

Look! He comes up like clouds, his chariots like the whirlwind; his horses are swifter than eagles— woe to us, for we are ruined!

Disaster overtakes disaster; the whole land is laid waste. Suddenly my tents are destroyed, my curtains in a moment.

And I will cast you out of my sight, just as I cast out all your kinsfolk, all the offspring of Ephraim.

Is it I whom they provoke? says the Lord. Is it not themselves, to their own hurt?

Cut off your hair and throw it away; raise a lamentation on the bare heights, for the Lord has rejected and forsaken the generation that provoked his wrath.

“Away! Unclean!” people shouted at them; “Away! Away! Do not touch!” So they became fugitives and wanderers; it was said among the nations, “They shall stay here no longer.”

Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers, our homes to aliens.

Now you, mortal, raise a lamentation over Tyre,

Thus the land became defiled, and I punished it for its iniquity, and the land vomited out its inhabitants.

otherwise the land will vomit you out for defiling it, as it vomited out the nation that was before you.

“You shall keep all my statutes and all my ordinances and observe them, so that the land to which I bring you to settle in may not vomit you out.

Arise and go, for this is no place to rest, because of uncleanness that destroys with a violent destruction.

On that day they shall take up a taunt song against you and wail with bitter lamentation and say, “We are utterly ruined; the Lord alters the inheritance of my people; how he removes it from me! Among our captors he parcels out our fields.”

you shall grope about at noon as blind people grope in darkness, but you shall be unable to find your way, and you shall be continually abused and robbed, without anyone to help.
