They grasp the bow and the javelin; they are cruel and have no mercy; their sound is like the roaring sea; they ride on horses, equipped like a warrior for battle, against you, O daughter Zion!

Their quiver is like an open tomb; all of them are mighty warriors.

Look, a people is coming from the north; a mighty nation and many kings are stirring from the farthest parts of the earth.

“Prepare war against her; up, and let us attack at noon!” “Woe to us, for the day declines; the shadows of evening lengthen!”

The snorting of their horses is heard from Dan; at the sound of the neighing of their stallions the whole land quakes. They come and devour the land and all that fills it, the city and those who live in it.

I will pour out my indignation upon you; with the fire of my wrath I will blow upon you. I will deliver you into brutish hands, those skillful to destroy.

The Lord will bring a nation from far away, from the end of the earth, to swoop down on you like an eagle, a nation whose language you do not understand,
