Save me from the mouth of the lion! From the horns of the wild oxen you have rescued me.

But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox; you have anointed me with fresh oil.

I trampled down peoples in my anger; I crushed them in my wrath, and I poured out their lifeblood on the earth.”

Wail, you shepherds, and cry out; roll in ashes, you lords of the flock, for the days of your slaughter have come—and your dispersions, and you shall fall like a choice vessel.

Even her mercenaries in her midst are like fatted calves; they, too, have turned and fled together; they did not stand, for the day of their calamity has come upon them, the time of their punishment.

Though you rejoice, though you exult, O plunderers of my heritage, though you frisk about like a heifer on the grass and neigh like stallions,

Kill all her bulls; let them go down to the slaughter. Alas for them, their day has come, the time of their punishment!

I will drench the land with your flowing blood up to the mountains, and the watercourses will be filled with you.

As for you, mortal, thus says the Lord God: Speak to the birds of every kind and to all the wild animals: Assemble and come, gather from all around to the sacrificial feast that I am preparing for you, a great sacrificial feast on the mountains of Israel, and you shall eat flesh and drink blood.

You shall eat the flesh of the mighty and drink the blood of the princes of the earth—of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bulls, all of them fatted calves of Bashan.
