Hear, a noise! Listen, it is coming— a great commotion from the land of the north to make the cities of Judah a desolation, a lair of jackals.

the burning sand shall become a pool and the thirsty ground springs of water; the haunt of jackals shall become a swamp; the grass shall become reeds and rushes.

For you have made the city a heap, the fortified city a ruin; the palace of foreigners is a city no more; it will never be rebuilt.

Even the jackals offer the breast and nurse their young, but my people has become cruel, like the ostriches in the wilderness.

Her cities have become an object of horror, a land of drought and a desert, a land in which no one lives and through which no mortal passes.
