Isaac dug again the wells of water that had been dug in the days of his father Abraham, for the Philistines had stopped them up after the death of Abraham, and he gave them the names that his father had given them.

When Abraham complained to Abimelech about a well of water that Abimelech’s servants had seized,

He said, “These seven ewe lambs you shall accept from my hand in order that you may be a witness for me that I dug this well.”

Therefore that place was called Beer-sheba, because there both of them swore an oath.

So Isaac departed from there and camped in the Wadi Gerar and settled there.

But when Isaac’s servants dug in the valley and found there a well of spring water,

He built towers in the wilderness and dug out many cisterns, for he had large herds, both in the Shephelah and in the plain, and he had farmers and vinedressers in the hills and in the fertile lands, for he loved the soil.

Those who choose another god multiply their sorrows; their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or take their names upon my lips.

For I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth, and they shall be mentioned by name no more.

On that day, says the Lord of hosts, I will cut off the names of the idols from the land, so that they shall be remembered no more, and also I will remove from the land the prophets and the unclean spirit.

Nebo, and Baal-meon (some names being changed), and Sibmah, and they gave names to the towns that they rebuilt.
