and Sarai said to Abram, “You see that the Lord has prevented me from bearing children; go in to my slave; it may be that I shall obtain children by her.” And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.

I will bless her and also give you a son by her. I will bless her, and she shall give rise to nations; kings of peoples shall come from her.”

The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit from the tree, and I ate.”

Then Rachel said, “God has judged me and has also heard my voice and given me a son”; therefore she named him Dan.

And the firstborn said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is not a man on earth to come in to us after the manner of all the world.

Now Sarai was barren; she had no child.
