Mortal, set your face toward Jerusalem and preach against the sanctuaries; prophesy against the land of Israel

The towns of the Negeb are shut up, with no one to open them; all Judah is taken into exile, wholly taken into exile.

“Do not preach”—thus they preach— “one should not preach of such things; disgrace will not overtake us.”

O mortal, set your face toward the mountains of Israel and prophesy against them

You shall set your face toward the siege of Jerusalem, and with your arm bared you shall prophesy against it.

I will prepare destroyers against you, all with their weapons; they shall cut down your choicest cedars and cast them into the fire.

An oracle concerning the animals of the Negeb. Through a land of trouble and distress, of lioness and roaring lion, of viper and flying serpent, they carry their riches on the backs of donkeys and their treasures on the humps of camels to a people that cannot profit them.

After I spoke they did not speak again, and my word dropped upon them like dew.

May my teaching drop like the rain, my speech condense like the dew, like gentle rain on grass, like showers on new growth.

The word of the Lord came to me:

Because I will cut off from you both righteous and wicked, therefore my sword shall go out of its sheath against all flesh from south to north,

Therefore prophesy against them; prophesy, O mortal.”
