I was a father to the needy, and I championed the cause of the stranger.

Happy are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord.

Therefore say to the house of Israel: Thus says the Lord God: Will you defile yourselves after the manner of your ancestors and go astray after their detestable things?

If, however, you warn the righteous not to sin and they do not sin, they shall surely live because they took warning, and you will have saved your life.

Though I say to the righteous that they shall surely live, yet if they trust in their righteousness and commit iniquity, none of their righteous deeds shall be remembered, but in the iniquity that they have committed they shall die.

Therefore, O king, may my counsel be acceptable to you: atone for your sins with righteousness and your iniquities with mercy to the oppressed, so that your prosperity may be prolonged.”

But you shall keep my statutes and my ordinances and commit none of these abominations, either the native-born or the alien who resides among you

So keep my charge not to commit any of these abominations that were done before you and not to defile yourselves by them: I am the Lord your God.”

My ordinances you shall observe, and my statutes you shall keep, following them: I am the Lord your God.

Ever since the days of your ancestors you have turned aside from my statutes and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. But you say, “How shall we return?”

Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, “Look, half of my possessions, Lord, I will give to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will pay back four times as much.”

to those who by patiently doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life,
