Desolation is left in the city; the gates are battered into ruins.

The earth shall be utterly laid waste and utterly despoiled, for the Lord has spoken this word.

And her gates shall lament and mourn; desolate, she shall sit upon the ground.

For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: I am going to banish from this place, in your days and before your eyes, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride.

and shall say to them: Thus says the Lord of hosts: So will I break this people and this city as one breaks a potter’s vessel, so that it can never be mended. In Topheth they shall bury until there is no more room to bury.

I am going to send for all the tribes of the north, says the Lord, even for King Nebuchadrezzar of Babylon, my servant, and I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants and against all these nations around; I will utterly destroy them and make them an object of horror and of hissing and an everlasting disgrace.

I am going to command, says the Lord, and will bring them back to this city, and they will fight against it and take it and burn it with fire. The towns of Judah I will make a desolation without inhabitant.

A lion has gone up from its thicket; a destroyer of nations has set out; he has gone out from his place to make your land a waste; your cities will be ruins without inhabitant.

because of Mount Zion, which lies desolate; jackals prowl over it.

And they shall know that I am the Lord when I disperse them among the nations and scatter them through the countries.

The word of the Lord came to me:

Therefore thus says the Lord God: Like the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so I will give up the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

And I will make the land desolate because they have acted faithlessly, says the Lord God.

therefore prophesy and say: Thus says the Lord God: Because they made you desolate indeed and crushed you from all sides, so that you became the possession of the rest of the nations and an object of gossip and slander among the people,

Moreover, I will make you a desolation and an object of mocking among the nations around you, in the sight of all who pass by.

Now therefore, O our God, listen to the prayer of your servant and to his supplication, and for your own sake, Lord, let your face shine upon your desolated sanctuary.

I will lay your cities waste, will make your sanctuaries desolate, and I will not smell your pleasing odors.

And you I will scatter among the nations, and I will unsheathe the sword against you; your land shall be a desolation and your cities a waste.
