And there were those who said, “We are having to borrow money on our fields and vineyards to pay the king’s tax.

The wicked borrow and do not pay back, but the righteous are generous and keep giving;

the owner of the pit shall make restitution, giving money to its owner but keeping the dead animal.

an oath before the Lord shall decide between the two of them that the one has not laid hands on the property of the other; the owner shall accept the oath, and no restitution shall be made.

If it was mangled by beasts, let it be brought as evidence; restitution shall not be made for the mangled remains.

If the owner was present, there shall be no restitution; if it was hired, only the hiring fee is due.

Anyone who kills an animal shall make restitution for it, life for life.

Give to the one who asks of you, and do not refuse anyone who wants to borrow from you.

Instead, love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked.

And this is the manner of the remission: every creditor shall remit the claim that is held against a neighbor, not exacting it, because the Lord’s remission has been proclaimed.
