but when Esther came before the king, he gave orders in writing that the wicked plot that he had devised against the Jews should come upon his own head and that he and his sons should be hung on the pole.

Those who surround me lift up their heads; let the mischief of their lips overwhelm them!

Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I alone escape.

Their mischief returns upon their own heads, and on their own heads their violence descends.

I will give to the Lord the thanks due to his righteousness and sing praise to the name of the Lord, the Most High.

He will repay them for their iniquity and wipe them out for their wickedness; the Lord our God will wipe them out.

Whoever digs a pit will fall into it, and a stone will come back on the one who starts it rolling.

The iniquities of the wicked ensnare them, and they are caught in the coils of their sin.

On that day, says the Lord of hosts, the peg that was fastened in a secure place will give way; it will be cut down and fall, and the load that was on it will perish, for the Lord has spoken.”

For the day of the Lord is near against all the nations. As you have done, it shall be done to you; your deeds shall return on your own head.

The one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, and it will crush anyone on whom it falls.”

When David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, “Blessed be the Lord, who has judged the case of Nabal’s insult to me and has kept back his servant from evil; the Lord has returned the evildoing of Nabal upon his own head.” Then David sent word to Abigail to make her his wife.
