Then Mordecai went out from the presence of the king, wearing royal robes of blue and white, with a great golden crown and a mantle of fine linen and purple, while the city of Susa shouted and rejoiced.

So the couriers, mounted on their royal steeds, hurried out, urged by the king’s command. The decree was issued in the citadel of Susa.

When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, and when the wicked perish, there is jubilation.

When the righteous rejoice, there is great glory, but when the wicked prevail, people go into hiding.

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan.

What, then, did you go out to see? Someone dressed in soft robes? Look, those who wear soft robes are in royal palaces.

yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these.

“There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day.
