So Haman came in, and the king said to him, “What shall be done for the man whom the king wishes to honor?” Haman said to himself, “Whom would the king wish to honor more than me?”

and Haman recounted to them the splendor of his riches, the number of his sons, all the promotions with which the king had honored him, and how he had advanced him above the officials and the ministers of the king.

So Haman took the robes and the horse and robed Mordecai and led him riding through the open square of the city, proclaiming, “Thus shall it be done for the man whom the king wishes to honor.”

So the king’s servants told him, “Haman is there, standing in the court.” The king said, “Let him come in.”

Let those who desire my vindication shout for joy and be glad and say evermore, “Great is the Lord, who delights in the welfare of his servant.”

For waywardness kills the simple, and the complacency of fools destroys them;

Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.

Before destruction one’s heart is haughty, but humility goes before honor.

There are those—how lofty are their eyes, how high their eyelids lift!—

Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights; I have put my spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the nations.

I will rejoice in doing good to them, and I will plant them in this land in faithfulness, with all my heart and all my soul.

Your proud heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rock, whose dwelling is in the heights. You say in your heart, “Who will bring me down to the ground?”

And a voice from the heavens said, “This is my Son, the Beloved, with whom I am well pleased.”

and the host who invited both of you may come and say to you, ‘Give this person your place,’ and then in disgrace you would start to take the lowest place.

so that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.
