If the anger of the ruler rises against you, do not leave your post, for calmness will undo great offenses.

Those who are hot-tempered stir up strife, but those who are slow to anger calm contention.

With patience a ruler may be persuaded, and a soft tongue can break bones.

There is an evil that I have seen under the sun, as great an error as if it proceeded from the ruler:

do not be terrified; go from his presence; do not delay when the matter is unpleasant, for he does whatever he pleases.
