They abandoned their gods there, and at David’s command they were burned.

you shall not bow down to their gods or serve them or follow their practices, but you shall utterly demolish them and break their pillars in pieces.

He took the calf that they had made, burned it with fire, ground it to powder, scattered it on the water, and made the Israelites drink it.

Rather, you shall tear down their altars, break their pillars, and cut down their sacred poles,

they will not have regard for the altars, the work of their hands, and they will not look to what their own fingers have made, either the sacred poles or the altars of incense.

“You shall make for yourselves no idols and erect no carved images or pillars, and you shall not place figured stones in your land, to worship at them, for I am the Lord your God.

you shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, destroy all their figured stones, destroy all their cast images, and demolish all their high places.

“You shall not plant any tree as a sacred pole beside the altar that you make for the Lord your God,

nor shall you set up a stone pillar—things that the Lord your God hates.

The images of their gods you shall burn with fire. Do not covet the silver or the gold that is on them and take it for yourself, because you could be ensnared by it, for it is abhorrent to the Lord your God.

Then I took the sinful thing you had made, the calf, and burned it with fire and crushed it, grinding it thoroughly, until it was reduced to dust, and I threw the dust into the stream that runs down the mountain.
