He sustained him in a desert land, in a howling wilderness waste; he shielded him, cared for him, guarded him as the apple of his eye.

who led you through the great and terrible wilderness, an arid wasteland with poisonous snakes and scorpions. He made water flow for you from flint rock.

And Joshua defeated them from Kadesh-barnea to Gaza and all the country of Goshen, as far as Gibeon.
