and they recognized him as the one who used to sit and ask for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with wonder and astonishment at what had happened to him.

After the people of that place recognized him, they sent word to that whole surrounding region, and people brought all who were sick to him

They were all astounded and kept saying to one another, “What kind of word is this, that with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits and they come out?”

And all were astounded at the greatness of God. While everyone was amazed at all that he was doing, he said to his disciples,

The Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing, and he will show him greater works than these, so that you will be astonished.

The neighbors and those who had seen him before as a beggar began to ask, “Is this not the man who used to sit and beg?”

All were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?”

Amazed and astonished, they asked, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans?

And a man lame from birth was being carried in. People would lay him daily at the gate of the temple called the Beautiful Gate so that he could ask for alms from those entering the temple.
