But when Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, he sent a message to the king, “Why have you torn your clothes? Let him come to me, that he may learn that there is a prophet in Israel.”

Then David said to Joab and to all the people who were with him, “Tear your clothes, put on sackcloth, and mourn over Abner.” And King David followed the bier.

But the word of God came to Shemaiah the man of God:

So the woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is truth.”

They answered him, “There came a man to meet us, who said to us, ‘Go back to the king who sent you and say to him: Thus says the Lord: Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are sending to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you shall not leave the bed to which you have gone but shall surely die.’ ”

Then he returned to the man of God, he and all his company; he came and stood before him and said, “Now I know that there is no God in all the earth except in Israel; please accept a present from your servant.”

She said to her mistress, “If only my lord were with the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his skin disease.”

When the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes and said, “Am I God, to give death or life, that this man sends word to me to cure a man of his skin disease? Just look and see how he is trying to pick a quarrel with me.”

So Naaman came with his horses and chariots and halted at the entrance of Elisha’s house.

Then all these officials of yours shall come down to me and bow low to me, saying, ‘Leave us, you and all the people who follow you.’ After that I will leave.” And in hot anger he left Pharaoh.

Whether they hear or refuse to hear (for they are a rebellious house), they shall know that there has been a prophet among them.

By a prophet the Lord brought Israel up from Egypt, and by a prophet he was guarded.

Now I am speaking to you gentiles. Inasmuch as I am an apostle to the gentiles, I celebrate my ministry

But he said to him, “There is a man of God in this town; he is a man held in honor. Whatever he says always comes true. Let us go there now; perhaps he will tell us about the journey on which we have set out.”
