then hear from heaven, forgive the sin of your people Israel, and bring them again to the land that you gave to them and to their ancestors.

When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain or command the locust to devour the land or send pestilence among my people,

No one who conceals transgressions will prosper, but one who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.

I will make it a wasteland; it shall not be pruned or hoed, and it shall be overgrown with briers and thorns; I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.

for then the anger of the Lord will be kindled against you, and he will shut up the heavens, so that there will be no rain, and the land will not yield its produce; then you will perish quickly off the good land that the Lord is giving you.

The sky over your head shall be bronze and the earth under you iron.

They have authority to shut the sky, so that no rain may fall during the days of their prophesying, and they have authority over the waters to turn them into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague, as often as they desire.
