Here we are, slaves to this day, slaves in the land that you gave to our ancestors to enjoy its fruit and its good gifts.

Their enemies oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their power.

Though they bargain with the nations, I will now gather them up. They shall soon writhe under the burden of kings and princes.

Now these are the nations that the Lord left to test all those in Israel who had no experience of war in Canaan
